Planning Board Vacancy

The Town of Duck is seeking applicants for a Planning Board vacancy. Members must own real property in Duck.  If interested, please fill out an application and return to Lori Ackerman by email at or in person at the Town Hall, 1200 Duck Rd. 

Applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020.

Limited Inspection Schedule

The Town office will be closed for the holidays on December 24th, 25th, and January 1st. No inspections will be conducted on those days.

Additionally, the building inspector will be unavailable to conduct inspections on the following dates while attending continuing education classes: January 9th and January 27th through January 30th. Please plan accordingly.

Beach Grass Planting

We continue making great progress stabilizing the dunes and have completed the Sea Hawk area. The planting scheduled for last week has been rescheduled for today, December 16,  at 1:00 p.m. at the Tuckahoe access. If interested, please email or call Sandy Cross at or 252-255-1234 for additional details. 

Tentative dates for the rest of the month are Sunday, December 22 and Saturday, December 28

iFlood: Improving Flood Predictions

Become a citizen-scientist by downloading the iFlood app from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Your flood reports will provide important data about the location and timing of flooding that will improve flooding models. Available on both iTunes and Google Play under iFLood. Town Office Closed

In observance of the Christmas holiday, the Town Office will be closed on Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25.

Pedestrian Plan Phase III Update

Although limited last week by weather, RPC Contracting was able to prepare the base for several sections of sidewalk in the northern end of the project and poured a section of sidewalk just south of Barrier Island Station. Sidewalk construction will continue southward from that point during the week of December 16th. 

RPC also completed the excavation and grading in the block between Cook Drive and Duck Deli. Millstone Marine will begin construction of the taller retaining walls in this area during the week of December 16th.

Rotating Art Show: Bobby Wiltshire

Watercolor by Bobby Wiltshire is the next exhibit in the Town of Duck Rotating Art Show. The exhibit can be viewed in the First Floor Conference Room at Duck Town Hall Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) November 1, 2019 through January 29, 2020.
