Changing the World With Words
12 weeks - Tuesdays and Thursdays - 4-7 pm
February 21 - May 17, 2012
TEENS–do you want to be a published author?
Do you have a story to tell, a message to spread?
Imagine this: You apply for a job or college, and you proudly tell them you've been published in a book. Right away they know you're unique, creative, smart, and motivated – just the kind of person they want!
In this twelve week after school class you'll explore the awesome world of writing - photojournalism, fiction, songwriting, poetry - and it won't even feel like homework.
At the end, you'll be published in a professionally printed book, designed by you and your classmates - to be sold and distributed to stores and libraries all over the Bay Area.
Along the way you'll meet professional artists, writers, photographers, singers, reporters who love what they do for a living. We'll also take field trips to museums and theaters.
If you care about your community and want to learn how to make your stories matter, Changing the World With Words is for you!
