Minecraft Updates

Pandas are on their way to Minecraft and even Vanity Fair is reporting on the news.

Meanwhile version 1.13, the "update aquatic", is out. Shipwrecks, tridents, sea zombies ("Drowned"), and a lot more!

We're still waiting to update our servers to 1.13. We've played a little bit of 1.13 on a not-too-old MacBook Pro, and the machine struggles to run this version. Apparently more recent patches have improved things, but more investigation is necessary.

Minecraft U

'Tis the season to investigate new Minecraft techniques that parallel real coding practice, new ways for us to streamline our camp experience, and make sure all the bugs are worked out of our curriculum (yes, we treat our curriculum like software, and in that sense it is never "done").

We could use some help, especially in the area of Minecraft-related DevOps. If you or anyone you know is interested in spinning up virtual machines for the purposes of compiling Minecraft mods, let us know! (Just reply to this email.)
