What's up this week with
Believers On Mountain Bikes (BOMB)

Weekly Update

Three Sisters/Alderfer from the Evergreen Lake house this week.  Fun ride at Deer Creek last week and a few of us got out to Granby for the Enduro Race weekend(Pictured Above).

Here are my thoughts for this week - a time to pause and reflect.

Psalm 46:10 New International Version (NIV)
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.

Do you ever stop on a ride to reflect on your surroundings and God's creation?  Share with each other some of your favorite ride points - maybe it is the top of Evergreen Mountain, or maybe it is the view at the top of Fooses right before you drop into the shale surf zone, or maybe it is simply the smoke billowing out of Dave’s grill as you are about to enjoy an amazing hot dog at the end of a ride.

This week we pause to reflect on where we are at on our beatitude journey.  In week one we contemplated and acknowledged our brokenness (Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven).  Then we mourned over our own brokenness and the brokenness of humanity. Sadly, we have a lot to mourn about. Fortunately, we will be comforted.  (Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted). Next, as we acknowledge and mourn we are humbled by our brokenness and need for a savior.  (Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth). Those, then lead us to be hungry and thirsty for a right relationship with God. We want to be renewed and seek that right relationship.  When we put all of our energy and focus on that relationship we are filled - over and over again (Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled). That hunger and thirst for that right relationship is then demonstrated on us outwardly to others as we show mercy to others as God shows mercy to us i.e. the hunger and thirst for that right relationship with God then pours out of us onto others.  (Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy). Finally, we discussed what we put in our mind, bodies, soul, is what comes out. Thus, if we are putting garbage in (porn, drugs, etc), we will get garbage out. We need to be intentional what we put in our heart because that is what will come out. Thus, we need to seek a pure heart. (Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God).

Next week we will discuss being a peacemaker.  However, take time to reflect on where we are at in our journey.

Action:
1.    Share your reflections on the beatitudes with others in the group - either at the beginning of the ride, as you talk on the climb, or at a gathering spot.
