OcTacoma Arts Monthtober is Tacoma Arts Month.  There is something for everyone to enjoy:  music, dance and theater performances; hands-on experience;, visual art exhibits; literary readings; lectures; workshops; film screenings and cultural events.  All you have to do is choose what you want to enjoy.

One of the highlights of Tacoma Arts Month is the Tacoma Studio Tour, October 12 & 13, 11am to 5pm.  You are invited inside the working studios of over 90 local artists (including Mark Hudak / Throwing Mud Gallery) to learn about the artistic process, ask questions and purchase one-of-a-kind creations.

Friday, October 25, 6 to 8:30 pm

Bring the vintage charm of a classic ceramic Christmas tree home for the Holidays. Paint your own Christmas Tree or other fun vintage Christmas decoration. Any of the choices will be a great holiday centerpiece and something that will be treasured for years. Just like your Grandma had!

This party will be full of Christmas cheer to get you in the mood for the upcoming Holiday season.  Bring your friends and make a night of it!

Here’s how it works:

  • $5 event fee per person.  We’ll provide drinks and snacks
  • Choose one of the special Christmas items that you would like to paint that night. (The prices are special for Paint Night!) All guests for this event must purchase at least one of these items ahead of time.
Sign-up and details on our website.

Every year, Throwing Mud Gallery donates 200+ bowls to the Empty Bowls fundraiser to support the Pierce County Emergency Food Network.  This event is an annual ritual enjoyed by more than 500 people each year. During Empty Bowls, attendees can choose from more than 1,000 bowls to purchase for the home and for holiday gifts.

There are several ways you can help:
  • Bring in any bowls that you would like to donate by November 16
  • If you would like to make bowls, we will have donated clay and will give you free open studio time.
  • Purchase clay to donate so that others can make bowls.
  • Attend the Empty Bowls fundraiser on Saturday, November 23rd at Charles Wright Academy

Our next 6-week session of pottery classes begins the week of November 4th.  For this session, there will not be class the week of Thanksgiving (Nov. 25-30). The session ends on December 21.
