Sign up for Fall Internship Fair!

The sign-up document for the FRIDAY, OCT. 29, Internship Fair is now available at From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., recruiters will interview students at the J-school in-person or on Zoom for internships — and jobs — for  spring and summer 2022. Some employers are interviewing only for a half-day, so be sure to sign up for limited slots as soon as possible — and make sure your times don't overlap with other interviews. 


Most recruiters are asking students to email resumes and links/clips of their work by TUESDAY, OCT. 26. But students also should take copies of their resumes and clips to the interviews. And remember to dress professionally!

If you're enrolled in or have completed JOUR 205, and/or have a year at the Daily Wildcat or a community college paper, you can apply for most internships (although Arizona Daily Star apprentices must have taken JOUR 306). If you have questions about whether to interview for a certain internship, contact Internship Coordinator Mike Chesnick or Academic Adviser Paloma Boykin.

NOTEKOLD-TV, the local CBS affiliate, will interview broadcast students remotely on Friday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon. Applicants should be enrolled in or have taken JOUR 280, and ideally JOUR 307, 385 and 490C.

1. Don Bolles Legislative Reporting Fellowship in Phoenix
Jordan Williams (left) used this fellowship to help her land a breaking news reporting job at The Hill in Washington, D.C. You get to cover the Arizona Legislature in spring 2022 for 12 units of credit, three of which satisfy your JOUR 490F requirement. Includes tuition waiver or living expenses. Your work will be published on and elsewhere. Juniors and seniors preferred. Submit 1) a letter explaining your interest; 2) a résumé with three references; and 3) three samples of your best reporting and writing (published or from journalism classes). Send to by Monday, Oct. 25.

2. Dow Jones News Fund 2022 summer paid internships:
The application process is open for internships in data journalism, digital media, business reporting and multiplatform editing at 50-plus U.S. news outlets. You must apply by Nov. 5, and take a timed, online qualifying test. DJNF will host two information sessions about the application and selection process, as well as two test prep sessions. Students can sign up here to attend or to request recordings. View an info session (Passcode: BQH3F8#$). Sophomores, juniors, seniors and grad students are eligible, including December grads. If interested, email and we can help with the prep sessions. DJNF has not determined if the paid training programs and internships will be remote, in-person or a mix.

• The Las Vegas Review-Journal: NEW Metro and business reporting paid internships for the winter/spring term and summer. Ideal candidates are on track to graduate in 2022, have completed at least one internship or written for the Daily Wildcat, and are fluent in Spanish. High Country News Bell Prize: Honors writing about the Western U.S. by writers, 18 to 25.
