Take advantage of the Internship Fair!

(Note: Interview slots for the Arizona Republic/azcentral.com spring and summer breaking news internship have been added to the Google Doc spreadsheet. There was a glitch, so please sign up now!)

Internships can help you land a job after college. Just ask recent grad Alana Minkler (above), who successfully interviewed with alum John D'Anna for a fellowship at the Arizona Republic at the 2019 Fall Internship Fair. Because of the contact she made with D'Anna, she accepted a full-time job this summer at the Santa Rosa (Calif.) Press Democrat when he took an editor's position there.

So the point is ... take advantage of the Fall Internship Fair on FRIDAY, OCT. 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Recruiters will interview students at the J-school in-person or on Zoom for internships — and jobs — for spring and summer 2022. Some employers are interviewing only for a half-day, so sign up for limited slots now — and make sure your times don't overlap with other interviews.

SIGN UP NOW

Most recruiters are asking students to email resumes and links/clips of their work by TUESDAY, OCT. 26. But students also should take copies of their resumes and clips to the interviews. Remember to dress professionally! And do background on each employer by clicking on the links below.

Employers interviewing students Oct. 29 are:

If you're enrolled in or have completed JOUR 205, and/or have a year at the Daily Wildcat or a community college paper, you can apply for most internships (Arizona Daily Star apprentices need JOUR 306). If you have questions about whether to interview for a certain internship, contact Internship Coordinator Mike Chesnick or Academic Adviser Paloma Boykin.

NOTEKOLD-TV, the local CBS affiliate, will interview broadcast students remotely on Friday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon. Applicants should be enrolled in or have taken JOUR 280, and ideally JOUR 307, 385 and 490C.

Good luck on your interviews! And check out new prep session links to the Dow Jones News Fund paid internships and other new internship listings below, including NBC and ABC remote paid positions.
