Internship Fair includes paid opportunities

The sign-up sheet is filling up for the school's Feb. 25 Spring Internship Fair, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Recruiters from 18 media outlets will interview students in-person or remotely for internships — and jobs — for summer and fall 2022.

The listings include a paid internship with the Arizona Center for Investigative Reporting covering Tucson and southern Arizona — and paid internship/freelance opportunities with Arizona Luminaria, a new non-profit news site that focuses on local and community journalism.

Some employers are available for a half-day, so sign up for limited slots now — and make sure your times don't overlap. Note: The SignUpGenius site is best viewed on your laptop or computer. If all the time slots are taken, please let me (Mike Chesnick) know, and I'll ask the employer for more slots.

Recruiters are asking students to email cover letters, resumes and links/clips of their work by TUESDAY, FEB. 22. You can do background on each employer by clicking on the links below. The media outlets are:

If you're enrolled in or have completed JOUR 205, and/or have a year at the Daily Wildcat or a community college paper, you can apply for most internships (Arizona Daily Star apprentices need JOUR 306 or JOUR 506). If you have questions about whether to interview for a certain internship, contact Internship Coordinator Mike Chesnick or Academic Adviser Paloma Boykin. You can earn up to three credits for an internship (see details).

Happy Thursday! Check out NEW listings, deadlines below. Info for Hearst and new climate journalism contests below, too!
