Did you know that you could speak French on all five continents ? Can a language convey humanist values? What do 84 countries have in common?
 
This March, with the Month of la Francophonie, you’ll have more than 50 exciting occasions to answer these questions with our jam-packed programme of events in all domains: music, film, literature & much more!

Officially launched in Dublin by French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, Mr. Jean-Marc Ayrault, The Month of La Francophonie is happening throughout Ireland, most of the events are free & you don’t need to speak French fluently to come!

Conference
« Langue au chat, gueule du loup et chien de faïence : la langue française en images »
1 March 2017
Two specialists of linguistics Bernard Cerquiglini, Honorary rector of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie and Dr. Vilmos Bárdosi, lexicographer at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, will explore the richness of French language through a focus on its illustrated phrases, such as "donner sa langue au chat" (literally "give one’s tongue to the cat") or "se jeter dans la gueule du loup" ("throw yourself in the wolf’s mouth") and their meaning.

The conference will be conducted in French.

Irish Premiere of "Women & Men" + Q&A with Frédérique Bedos
International Women's Day

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the French Embassy in Ireland in association with the Alliance française Dublin presentes the Irish premiere of the film ‘Women and Men’ (Des femmes et des hommes) with director Frédérique Bedos in attendance.
 
The film takes an in-depth look at persistent gender inequality and reveals some surprising economic and social advantages of women empowerment. Already viewed by 35 million people around the world, it was presented at the UNESCO in Paris and at the United Nations in New York and Geneva.

France at Animation Dingle 2016

Once again, the French Embassy in Ireland has teamed up with Animation Dingle to present the best of French animation.
The programme features both Oscar nominated The Red Turtle and My Life as a Courgette along with The Girl Without Hands, which premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival and was awarded Jury Distinction at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Director Sébastien Laudenbach and Producer Jean-Christophe Soulageon, will be in attendance for a Q&A hosted by Tomm Moore from Cartoon Saloon.

Bruther was created in 2007 by Stéphanie Bru and Alexandre Theriot, practicing in the realm of architecture, research, urbanism and landscape. Their projects are motivated by the conviction that architecture happens when the unnecessary is dispensed with.

Franco-Irish Literary Festival 2017

For the 18th edition of the Franco-Irish Literary Festival, 15 writers from France and Ireland will reflect on the theme Style and Stylistics – De fil en aiguille – Snáth An Scéil during panel discussions, interviews, readings and our now famous Sunday literary brunch!
We also have this year very special events around the the festival including screenings, exhibition and workshops.

This Festival is jointly organised by the Alliance Française and the French Embassy.
