A public event on the theme of posthuman performance will include a talk from French performance artist ORLAN at the Science Gallery on Thursday 19th June 2014 @6pm with consecutive translation.

"Charles de Gaulle: A Quiet Holiday" in Sneem, County Kerry

Presented in Sneem, County Kerry for the first time! 
Opening on Friday 30 May, 6pm

 
The exhibition presents a series of photographs from the Kennelly Archive of Charles De Gaulle’s visit to Ireland after he left power in May 1969.
Padraig and Joan Kennelly, founders of a photographic studio in Tralee (Kennelly Archive), followed in the footsteps of de Gaulle and recorded the excitement caused amongst the people of Sneem, a small village in the south west of Ireland, in County Kerry. They called their photo journal “A Quiet Holiday”.
 
Presented by the French Embassy in Ireland in association with Kerry Geopark; curated by Isabelle Galy-Aché with the support of: Irish Cultural Centre in Paris, Kennelly Archive, Fondation Charles de Gaulle, Ireland Fund of France

"Here in Paradise" by Jochen Gerz

Here in Paradise is a public space exhibition by conceptual artist Jochen Gerz, internationally known for his collaborative works on memory in France, Germany, England, Italy, Ireland and Austria. No place as small as Sneem shows the depth of migration and interchange in the European Union better.

This exhibition is commissioned by Sneem Tidy Towns and supported by the French and German Embassies, the Goethe-Institut in Dublin and the Kerry County Council.

Two-day event: “Promoting Irish French Academic Cooperation”

19-20 June 2014
The French Embassy in Ireland, Campus France Paris and the Irish Universities Association organise an academic event on the 19th and 20th of June 2014  where French International officers will come to meet with their Irish counterparts.

The first day will be dedicated to 3 lectures around academic topics. On the second day, the French professionals will stay in Dublin or go to Cork, Galway or Limerick for face-to-face meetings with their academic peers.

Royal de Luxe set for Irish Premiere of The Giant’s Journey

The headline event for Limerick City of Culture 2014 has just been announced with world renowned French Street company Royal de Luxe to present 'The Giant's Journey' for three whole days and nights on the 5th, 6th and 7th September 2014.

Limerick will be transformed as the massive giant rambles through the streets, transfixing audiences for 72 hours of free entertainment. Young and old will rub shoulders as they follow the Giant’s progress on its epic three day journey. The Limerick version will expect to see in excess of 200 000 visitors making it the largest public event ever hosted in the streets of the city

Royal de Luxe was founded in 1979 by Jean-Luc Courcoult and have since played in front of more than 18 million spectators with around 1,380 shows in more than 170 cities, in 40 countries on the 5 continents.
