Le Pré aux clercs was premiered in Paris by the Opéra-Comique at the Salle de la Bourse on 15 December 1832.

French Language Assistants in Ireland
8-9 October 2015
Every year, sixty French language assistants come to Ireland and are spread all over the country in secondary schools to support French teachers and share their culture and language with the young Irish pupils.

To help and support the assistants, the Department of Education and Skills and the French Embassy will hold an induction and training course for the news assistants on 8th and 9th  October 2015.

The sixty new French assistants and their school principals will also be received at the French Residence by the Ambassador Jean-Pierre Thébault for a welcome reception.

Zaïde Quartet on Tour

Prepare to be blown away by the Zaïde Quartet, a daring ensemble making waves across the European chamber music scene.
On tour from 8 – 17 October, this young French string quartet will perform Mozart, Bartók and Shostakovich string quartets as well as music by Irish composer Philip Martin. Expect fiery technical brilliance and bold musical imagination.

First meeting of the FLAM associations of Ireland

The FLAM (Français langue maternelle – French as mother tongue) associations  have for aim to organize extracurricular French language and culture classes or activities for French kids, in order to keep active their practice of the French language.
With the support of the French Embassy, the members of those associations from all over Ireland will gather together for the first time in Carrigaline, Co Cork, on Saturday October 17th.
Lahinch Brittany Autumn Festival

A festival of Breton culture in Ireland with plenty of music and dance for you to enjoy! The aim of this Festival is to welcome Irish people into Breton traditions and culture.
The festival will turn around biggest names in Breton music such as Malo Carvou, Sylvain Barou or Ronan Blejan to name a few. There will be Fest-noz (Breton céilis) every day of the weekend, conferences on musical ideology and instrument of Breton music, Breton music sessions, dance and instrumental masterclasses. 
With over 20 Breton teachers and performers attending, the Festival is set up to be a huge celebration of the long-lasting links and friendship between Brittany and Ireland.

New digital library at TV5 Monde
TV5 Monde is offering an exciting new digital library that contains a choice selection of classics in French literature. The digital library offers not only online copies of the full texts, but also educational resources containing reading and literary analysis strategies.

They will also be publishing news reports from the francophone world every Friday, accompanied by bonus teaching materials to help approach these news reports in a classroom setting.

"Skellig Sessions - 2015" A series of Talks and Discussions

In conjunction with the exhibition at Irish Cultural Centre in Paris (CCI) on climate change Et si on s’était trompé ? and the COP21 international conference taking place in Paris at the end of the year, CCI and the Skellig Foundation are organising "Skellig Sessions - 2015" a series of talks and discussions chaired by Lara Marlowe, The Irish Times correspondent in Paris.

The links between politics, economics and climate change, the potentials of marine energy and the waste-energy-water nexus will be discussed by specialists such as Frédéric Dias (University College Dublin and ENS Cachan),Gavin Collins (School of Natural Sciences and The Ryan Institute for Environmental, Marine and Energy Research, NUI Galway), Torgny Holmgren (Stockholm International Water Institute) andFrank McDonald (author and former Environment Editor, The Irish Times).
