With that sound, she would reach into his body, pull the thick whip he kept taught inside, and play it – one note – on the harp he was.  It would be a G.

Richard's Wedding This Friday June 1

The brilliantly weird Onur Tukel made a movie that stars Jenny Prediger, Larry Levine, Dustin Defa, Adam Schartoff, Darrill Rosen, Jamie Dobie and a lot of other people.
Including me.
I show up about 50 minutes in and get to have a brutal, cleansing, gorgeously odd wedding.
The film premiered at Sarasota Film Festival a few months ago and now has its New York debut at ReRun Theater this Friday.
Plays June 1 - 7, and most of the cast (including me!) will be there for this Friday's Q & A's, so buy your ticket now!

Trailer here.

Got a Ranch?

I give you love, you give me horses...
Robert Longstreet, Joe Swanberg and Isolde Chae-Lawrence are acting in a movie I'm directing this August that is
  • partially narrated by a cow
  • partially based on East of Eden
  • all happening this August
  • all set on a ranch!
Know anybody with a ranch?
That has horses and cows?

Send 'em my way, s'il vous pardner!

Saturday Morning Massacre at LA Film Festival

I play Gwen, based on Daphne, who gets a lot more bloody than the cartoon version.
Last spring, I acted in Spencer Parsons' horror feature "Saturday Morning Massacre," about what would happen if the Scooby Doo team entered a haunted house that didn't have a kindly gentleman to unmask.  Produced by Jason Wehling and Jonny Mars, and starring the lovely Ashley Spillers, Jonny, me, Paul Gordon and Adam Tate, the film premieres at the LA Film Festival this June 16 and 19.
I will be at the LA screening on the 16th, so come sneak up behind me with a sharp instrument!

Me The Terrible at Maryland Film Festival

Saw a lot of beautiful movies in Baltimore a few weeks ago when "Me The Terrible" played as part of the fest.
Our editor Ray Tintori collaborated in many ways with director Benh Zeitlin on Beasts of the Southern Wild, which just won major awards at both Sundance and Cannes.

"A baby, you say, smuggled inside a watermelon."
--Charles Simic

"It's all about how thick your neck is when the men in caves compare you to a rhino.  What you are drawn next to determines everything."
-- the character Robert Longstreet is going to play in my western this summer

School of Making Thinking Calls Like a Crest-Swallow

You can eat the whole grapefruit at once.
A few one-week slots remain for this summer.
Come where the grass is green, the dinners are orange, and the light switches wink and toddle like a little Pan.
I will be there all of June hosting tea parties and playing records.  And pretending I'm 50.
