Heritage Calgary Survey
Heritage Calgary would like to hear from you!

Earlier this year, city council approved funding for Heritage Calgary, a charitable civic partner of The City of Calgary focused on the research, education, and preservation of our shared heritage in Calgary, to develop a framework that Calgary-based organizations and groups interested in pursuing plans for naming, renaming, commemoration, and removal, can use to guide their own plans moving forward. This initiative provides a chance to expand the understanding and awareness of Calgary’s diverse heritage and to ensure that historical commemoration reflects that diversity. Thank You Maskwa!
We are lucky to have such incredible local businesses in Sunalta! We want to thank our friends and neighbours at Maskwa Environmental Consulting Ltd. who supported us this past year by:

Staying caffeinated with Sunalta Sunrise coffee
Booking the Hall for their work events
Making an incredibly generous donation to support our work in community!

Thanks for all you do to for Sunalta Maskwa!

Did you know "Maskwa" means Bear in Cree? It was a nickname given to Pat Foley, the grandfather of one of Maskwa's founding partners. He was a forest ranger in the Swan River Valley area near Slave Lake in the ‘40s -‘60s. Pat was given the name by members of the Indigenous communities he worked and lived with throughout his career, paying homage to the connection Pat had with the land and the local community. Pat, himself Métis, was known for his prowess in the bush and his ability to effectively work with diverse communities, cultures, and industries. Maskwa strives to embody these same values in everything they do.
