Welcome to the 16th edition AustStab newsletter - eStab.
In August 2013 at AustStab:
The 2nd AustStab Awards of Excellence were presented;
We hosted the Conference on the Gold Coast - Stabilising the future;
We celebrated 18 years of providing expertise in stabilisation to in Australia;
We continued the ongoing review on our Technical Notes;
We presented a training course in Traralgon and chased delegates for our Geelong and Coffs Harbour courses;
Continued to work on the association pillars of education, research, promotion and setting standards.
Awards of Excellence 2013
In 2013 AustStab celebrated the 2nd Award for Excellence on the 13th August 2013.
The Gala dinner was hosted at QT Hotel on the Gold Coast with a record number of guests at the evening.
The winners were:
1. Work Health and Safety - Downer Infrastructure: Key Learnings from Near Miss Reporting
2. Excellence in Research or Education - CPEE: Enhanced Knowledge and Education
3. Innovation or Excellence in Sustainability in pavement stabilisation - South Australian Jockey Club: Morphetteville Racecourse
4. Excellence in Recycling in stabilised pavements in local government - City of Townsville: Stabilising a partnership

Minutes from the AGM and Stabilising Australia's Future conference
All minutes from the AGM and Stabilising Australia's Future conference will be available by 19 August in the members only Intranet area of the website. The national working groups - Lime, Bitumen, and the Training and Promotions Working Groups met at the meeting, as well as the Council.
Some exciting new directions for the association were discussed. We expect that members of local government, state road agencies and consultants will hear more about these direction in the 2013 - 2014 period.

AustStab CPEE Training Courses
The AustStab CPEE insitu stabilisation training course will be presented in six locations throughout Australia by the end of the year.
The remaining locations include:
Geelong - 20 21 August
Bundaberg - 27 28 August
Coffs Harbour - 10 11 September
Perth - 29 30 October
Emerald - 19 20 November
This Course will briefly review the types of stabilisation before more detailed presentations on types of binders, material characteristics,
design and mix detailing, with sessions on specifying and case studies for practical outcomes. A feature of this Course is its significant
practical and project based content which aims to provide practical advice on road stabilisation solutions.
