The highlight for me over recent months, has been the opportunity to get out and speak to people about Warrnambool & District Community Hospice and the impact we are making in our local community. In meeting with local community groups, philanthropists and businesses, it is clear that people greatly value the work we are doing to support home-based care for people at the end of their lives.
Recent efforts to raise awareness of our free community service, has seen Hospice in the Home referrals increase, and our number of supporters grow. We are very grateful to have received donations from The Plumbers Blue Fin Fundraiser, Seanchai Irish Bar and the APCO Foundation. As well as grants from local grant-makers, South West Community Beyond Bank Foundation, William and Lindsay Brodie Foundation, Ray and Joyce Uebergang Foundation and the Gwen and Edna Jones Foundation.
I would also like to acknowledge our wonderful volunteers and the generosity of local businesses, Brumby’s, Meatbarn, Coles and Bunnings for making our inaugural Bunnings Sausage Sizzle a big success. We raised over $1600 for Hospice in the Home.
We might be on the home stretch of 2022, but things definitely aren’t slowing down, as you will read in this update. We will continue to promote Hospice in the Home, and volunteer opportunities to ensure local people have access to our service when they need it most.
