When We’re Walking with the God, We Look and Act Differently

When we’re walking with God,…
  1. we pray more passionately and effectively.
  2. we long to be in His Word.
  3. we can’t wait to share how He’s working in our life.
  4. we evangelize more.
  5. we sleep better.
  6. we deal better with opposition and conflict.
  7. we live and lead more humbly.
  8. we can lead well in our homes.

Galatians 5:24
"Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires."

Right after Paul lists off the Fruits of the Spirit, he writes that those who live submitted to Christ have crucified their flesh with all its desires. The idea of denying our desires and passions is challenging. Unfortunately, we often attempt to justify desires by finding a religious or pious reason to attach to them. It is sad, but many times, preferences drive our decision-making. I challenge us this week before we gather to worship to find new ways we can crucify our desires. It could be as simple as preferring your spouse's choice on where to eat or resolving a conflict by making allowance for the other party. Whatever that may be, it is clear that God desires for us to live crucified to our flesh and walk in step with the Holy Spirit. Here are songs that we will sing this Sunday that remind me that truly all I have is Jesus, and all my desires and passion pale in comparison to Him.

All to Him

Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me

Preschool Classes: Our Preschool Sunday attendance is continuing to increase! As we begin to split up classes in the preschool department, we are praying for volunteers who would be willing to share the love of Jesus with these boys and girls on a monthly or weekly basis.

Coffee Center: Our Coffee Center is getting a lot of attention these days! We could us a few more hands to make and serve the coffee at both or one of the services! This is a wonderful opportunity to not only serve but get to know your church family.

If you would like to serve in any of these ministries or others go to gracelifefamily.org/serve to sign-up!
Don’t you wish you knew how to give your teenager what they need? Sometimes it seems like that’s a moving target, but this article gives us some helpful guidance on things our kids need no matter what they’re going through. Check it out and let me know how I can pray for your family as you keep making much of Jesus in your home! — Pastor Jonathan

Happy Thursday GraceLife Friends!

It has certainly been a different year this year! Many of our boys and girls are excited to have a couple of months off from school. As parents we want our children to have fun this summer, but also to continue to learn about God and grow closer to Him!  How can we help them to do that as they are playing and having fun? Here is an article that might give you some good ideas for how to incorporate our faith into everyday summer activities such as gardening, sports, a summer reading program, hiking, service projects and more! Christian Summer Time Activities To Help Your Kids Grow In Their Faith (ambitionsforchrist.com) I would love to hear about any of these activities that you are able to do together! I pray that God will give you a good opportunity this summer to disciple your children!

This Sunday in children’s worship we are continuing our series with a message called “I Haven’t Forgotten You.” We will be talking about how boys and girls are never alone because God is always with them and He never forgets them! Hope to see you all on Sunday!

Please check out the rest of this email update for information on VBS registration starting this Sunday and also the baseball game on June 23!

Save-the-date for July 28 because it's Claytor Lake Day for our GraceLife Kids and their families. More info will be coming soon!
