See ya soon!..

love Foo x

The year of the suitcase continues...

This time we've exchanged our suitcases for a rucksack and packed imagining we are leaving home, emigrating and not coming back!..

You may be thinking why Foo's why??? Well Foo-sters it all in aid of a new piece of work...

'The Grandad Project'

We (Beth & Kate) have more in common than making theatre together, we also curiously share a very similar, unknown heritage...our mysterious Irish Grandads....

To kick off the research and development of this new Foo show, we began with a trip to Ireland to retrace, in reverse, the steps our Grandads took when emigrating to England.
So 1 hike, 1 bus, 3 trains, 1 more bus and 13 hours later we stepped foot on a new land, Ireland...the land of the Grandfather and began a journey into heritage, home and to find what of this place is part of us...

The creation process so far...

Phase One...

We landed from Ireland and headed to Derby Museums for a fascinating week looking at the Art of Curation and 'Built A Grandad' with the help of museum visitors...
We packed our bags AGAIN and headed for mac Birmingham for a brilliant 2 weeks residency full of deep discussions, ridiculous improvisations, moments of banging heads against walls, bubbling ideas and wonderful clarity...

We began working with our first ever Writing Mentor Nick Walker and first ever Dramaturg Sue Buckmaster thanks to In Good Company...

We've had a day getting digital with Barret Hodgson of Vent Media at Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham... (Thanks to gorgeous Lakeside for having us!)

...And finally ended Phase One in the familiar surroundings of Derby Theatre's Green Lane rehearsal rooms looking at different structures and settings for the work.

Where Next?..

Phase Two kicks of with another suitcase packed and two weeks residency at The Castle, Wellingborough followed by a week in Nottingham at DANCE4...
