Paycheck Protection Program

Opens up for independent contractors and sole proprietors this Friday, April 10th.

All businesses please check with your lender about the application.

Treasury funded an additional $250 Billion for this program.

The Paycheck Protection Program is a loan designed to provide a direct incentive for small businesses to keep their workers on the payroll.

SBA will forgive loans if all employees are kept on the payroll for eight weeks and the money is used for payroll, rent, mortgage interest, or utilities.

If you haven’t checked with your lender please do so.

ND Department of Commerce Business Briefing, hosted by Greater North Dakota Chamber
The U.S. Treasury released the Interim Final Rule for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) on the evening of April 2nd and additional clarification has been developing daily.  Join us for an overview of provisions of the CARES Act along with clarifications made through the recently released guidance, along with other implementation updates relating to unemployment insurance, and direct payments.  We will use examples to illustrate how the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL), PPP, and expanded unemployment insurance provisions of the CARES Act can assist your business in navigating the business disruption caused by COVID-19.  Finally, we will specifically discuss how the CARES Act applies to certain sole proprietors, non-profit, and faith-based organizations.

At the time of registration, please provide your questions relating to the CARES Act. These will be provided ahead of time to the Department of Commerce so that presenters can address your questions to the extent possible, given the dynamic environment. Questions not addressed during the conference call will be answered in a follow-up communication.

THIS IS VOLUNTARY APP; you never enter your name or username and password. Once the app is downloaded, individuals will be given a random ID number and the app will anonymously cache the individual’s locations throughout the day. Individuals are encouraged to categorize their movements into different groups such as work or grocery. It will only store the location of any place a person visits for 10 minutes or more, and the ID number of each individual contains no personal information besides location data.

If you would ever test positive, it will help you and report where you were while you were asymptomatic. It will help the NDDoH reduce the spread of COVID-19 by more efficiently and effectively identifying individuals who may have had contact with people who have tested positive.
