From the President...

So here we are at the END OF SEASON 2022 and this will be our last Newsletter for this season. Can you believe it? It seems like only yesterday that I was welcoming you to the FIRST Newsletter of the season on the 8th April!

It has been so good and a blessing from God that we could compete this season and do it in a manner that celebrated community, especially OUR KCSC Community. I trust you all enjoyed our Presentation Events last Saturday - we did get a bit of rain towards the end of our junior presentations but all in all we did have a blessed morning. Well done to all our players, coaches and team managers on completing an amazing season. Also a huge THANKS to all our parents and spectators who cheered and encouraged from the sidelines. To our committee, canteen volunteers, baristas, linemarking team, referees, match stewards and every other volunteer that put their hand up and said; "what can I do to help?" THANK YOU - you are all ROYAL in every way.

Special mention to our U14 Force, U15 Force and U18 Force who were the VCFA CHAMPIONS for 2022 and also the U18 Strikers who were the VCFA Runners-Up. Congratulations also to Mason Hoffman who was awarded the 2022 VCFA Best & Fairest trophy for the VCFA U12 Division.
Our senior teams also performed well on the field and CONGRATULATIONS to the Men's Fury who were VCFA Men's Division 3 CHAMPIONS. WELL DONE also to the Ladies Strikers - VCFA Women's Division 1 Runners-Up, Men's Force - VCFA Men's Premier League 1 Runners-Up, Men's Pride - VCFA Men's Premier League 1 Reserves Runners-Up, Men's Strikers -  VCFA Men's Premier League 2 Runners-Up and Men's Glory - VCFA Men's Division 1 Runners-Up. We also saw our Ladies Force battle it out in the Gwen Wright Shield (Cup) Final and in the end the finished as Runner-Up in that game - WELL DONE to our Ladies, for never giving up.
We would also like to acknowledge and CONGRATULATE the following individuals who were awarded Special Club awards:
  • 2022 KCSC Junior Club Person - JOHN LOH
  • 2022 KCSC Senior Club Person - TOM McINNES
It was also an HONOUR to award Knox Churches Soccer Club Life Membership to KEVIN DE-SIMONE. Kevin has been a player, coach, committee member and more recently Secretary of our club. Kevin has also been our club's VCFA Representative for many years. Kevin was awarded the Senior Club Person award back in 2009 and has been our Club Secretary since 2011, faithfully serving in this role for almost 12 years. Kevin has quietly served in the background, without too much fuss or fanfare, he has always been a voice of reason and objectivity in our Executive and in our committee - we THANK Kevin and also his wife Nicole for supporting him as he served our club and we say WELL DONE.

As I said at the presentation events - we are indeed honoured that each of you chose to be part of Knox Churches Soccer Club in Season 2022. I sincerely hope that you have enjoyed this season - I know we may not always have got things right and  mistakes have been made along the way. Please be assured that we did our best and we would like to improve and work together to become better NEXT SEASON. So I hope you do come back and help us to make an even better go of Season 2023. We thank God that we completed our first FULL VCFA season for three years over the past couple of weeks.

Over the last weekend the Knox Churches Soccer Club hosted a wonderful junior presentation morning attended by between 300 – 400 junior players and their families. On the Saturday evening another 160 players and officials from the ten senior teams met up at the ParkRoyal Monash Hotel for the senior presentation night. The presentations provided great times of community for those attending who could mix and mingle with their friends from the season.

We should be so thankful to God that community Sport came back and stayed back this time! The Bible encourages us in Thessalonians 5:16-18
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.”20 Nov 2020.

So we should be thankful to God for the many happy occasions we shared at Knox Park during 2022. Despite all the apprehension at the start of the year and Government COVID responses we got a full junior season and senior season in the first since 2019.

The Bible encourages us to always Thank God in many different scriptures and live with an attitude of gratitude! Then the Bible tells us to look forward not behind us!  So we thank God for the full season of 2022 and look forward in anticipation to season 2023.

We look forward to another year of fun, commitment, and volunteering at KCSC. So, remember to thank God and look forward with hope and expectancy!
God Bless
