From the President...
As I am writing this, I have been reflecting on how blessed we are as a club to have such a wonderful committee and such wonderful volunteer coaches and team managers, who absolutely give of themselves to our club, so that all of US - all of YOU - can enjoy playing The World Game in a safe and fun environment.

I was also reflecting on our COMMUNITY and i wondered what does that mean and I found this: “a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.” That then led me to see what FELLOWSHIP meant and I found this: "friendly association, especially with people who share one's interests."
So in many ways our club has a unique opportunity of offering FELLOWSHIP and COMMUNITY - It is my prayer that each of you have found this for yourself this season in KCSC. I would also encourage you to read our Chaplain's Corner this week in relation to this.
So let me go back to our COMMITTEE, they are a group of people called out of our COMMUNITY to serve the community, and this season they have all done this exceptionally, even as I am writing this, a small group will be preparing to go down to the club and paint the lines in readiness for tomorrow's games. So here is my question to you, would YOU PLEASE consider being willing to be nominated for the committee in 2023. General committee positions are a 1 year term and executive positions (President, Vice President, Secretary & Treasurer) are 3 year terms. If you would like to know more about what this investment in our club looks like - PLEASE CALL ME and TALK TO ME.
Tomorrow is OUR BIG FREEZE - We are blessed to have 18 teams/individuals participating and YOU can donate and encourage any one of them (yes even me ) RIGHT NOW - see the instructions below. I heop to see as many of you there at 10.30am.
As always - I look forward to catching up with you and if there is something on your mind relating to our club PLEASE talk to me about it DO NOT let it be unresolved.
Blessings

COMMUNITY
Well we have only a few weeks left of games to play.
I wonder how you are feeling? Have you enjoyed playing the season with your team mates? Have you been satisfied with how you have played so far? Have you made any new friends or developed new relationships?
These are all questions you can reflect on as we approach the end of the season.
Another one you might ask yourself is:
- How have I contributed? How have I contributed to my team, to my games, and to my club? Have I gone over and above at different times?
- When have you encouraged someone?
- When have you listened to someone?
- When might you have shared your needs, your doubts or your frustrations?
Being part of KCSC encourages you to reflect on all these things because we aim to be a club that wants you to be part of a loving and caring community.
Right from the very beginning God, whom we as a club value as the Creator of all there is, created us to live in community. Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. (Genesis 1.26). We believe that God the Father himself lives in perfect community with his Son Jesus our Redeemer, and his Holy Spirit who guides all of us. All are the one God coexisting in perfect harmony. (confused? Speak to Johann or one of the chaplains about this) Likewise our club has different people within the one body/ organisation. God knows how important it is to live in healthy and harmonious community and has created us to be that also. Elsewhere in the Bible it refers to the fact that two people are better than one, because if one falls, the other can help him up. And if they work together, they can achieve more. (Ecclesiastes 4.9-10)
As a club we are proud to run the Big Freeze this Saturday. A HUGE thank you to those who have volunteered to go down that slide into icy cold water. Why would they do that? Because they care for others, most of whom they will never know, in a tangible way. Others have already donated money towards this cause, which aims to combat MND. It is this mindset of helping others, encouraging others that will play a big part in the successful raising of funds for MND. Whilst our club’s primary aim is to care for its own members, it is also outward looking, thereby contributing to the lives of people outside of our club.
I hope you will be there on Saturday, encouraging those who go down the slide by your presence and hopefully also by your donation, however small or large. It is by encouraging your own club members that we can extend our unity to impact those who are doing it really tough as they battle MND.
Let’s all be there and give generously of ourselves, thereby enriching the lives of others. Then we can say: ‘yes, I have encouraged another person, yes I have contributed to our club and others beyond being a player on the field.” “yes, I am part of the vision of this club to go over and beyond”. See you there!
God Bless

'Make a splash' - Pool recovery sessions
Pool sessions are a great way to build strength and fitness without putting excess strain on your joints. Due to water buoyancy, the more deeply immersed you are in water, the less you weigh! So when you are immersed to your hip height in water, you weigh only 50% of your weight on land. This is why exercising in the water is a fantastic way to reduce the amount of pressure going through your weight-bearing joints whilst still achieving a full body workout.
Pool recover sessions are used by sporting teams all over the world. It has been found that exercising in the water can even be more effective than on land due to the multidirectional resistance of the water. Moving slowly and more deliberately in the water can help give your joints a full range of movement. Moving quickly in the water causes an increase in resistance and can help build up the strength of the muscles. All with reduced strain in your joints!
Water exercise can cover all of the necessary components of fitness: cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility. And, when done regularly, water exercise can help reduce body fat.
Some things you may like to try:
- leg swings forward and backward
- leg swings side to side
- walking/jogging forward and backward, high knees, and butt kicks
- holding the kickboard to just work the legs with kicks
- squat jumps
- lunges
- pool running with a buoyancy vest in the deep end
The options are endless! See your Back in Motion Physiotherapist for a structured exercise program for you or your team today!
