The Significance of Church Membership
Rev. Damein Schitter, Senior Pastor
In a culture of ‘spiritual but not religious’ it’s increasingly common for people to see commitment to the local church as peripheral to the Christian life. We are all influenced by the draw of individualism which rejects mutual submission to one another as well as consumerism which offers a constant appeal to the next best thing. However, in the Bible we see God creating one global church in Jesus (Ephesians 1:22) that is made up of local churches (Acts 14:23; Hebrews 13:17; 1 Peter 5:1) of disciples using their varied gifts to build each other up as we follow Jesus in all of our callings (Ephesians 4:7-16). Vowing to a local church is vowing to serve and be served. It is a recognition that the Christian life is participation in a local expression of Christ’s universal church. In light of this, we are pleased to offer an upcoming NewCity 201, which will give you the opportunity to learn more about what it looks like to join NewCity in our vision and mission.

Membership Class is for anyone desiring to explore and pursue church membership at NewCity. Use the link below to rsvp or contact Aaron Angstrom for more information.
