Ministry Highlight: Student Community
Benjamin Kandt, Director of Communities
NewCity Student Community (NCSC) is our middle and high school ministry. It exists to make whole-life disciples of our students for their callings. Being a middle or high school student is itself a unique calling with its own challenges and opportunities. Academics and athletics, friends and the future are often on the fore of our students’ minds. We want to equip them to live in their world as apprentices of Jesus. This means the gospel must shape the way our students view A’s and F’s, winning and losing, the “in" crowd and the outcasts, as well as their hopes and dreams. The good news that Jesus died and rose, ascended and reigns speaks to all of these realities. Full acceptance in Christ alters the incessant need to prove oneself. The gospel comes to bear on the sorrow one feels after being knocked out of a tournament or passed over in the science fair. Jesus’ movement towards us when we were his enemies (Rom. 5:10) propels us toward the table nobody wants to sit at in the lunch room. At NewCity, we believe the gospel changes everything so we’re leading our students to understand and apply this to all of life.

We seek to make whole-life disciples of our students through intentional relationships, authentic community, gospel-saturated teachings, delicious food, engaging camps, and endless laughter. Students experience personal transformation while being equipped to live for God’s glory and the good of their schools, teams, clubs, and neighborhoods. NCSC is a place where our students can be themselves, while becoming who God intended them to be through gospel renewal. Whether you have a child in Student Community or not, we ask that you pray for God’s work in and through our students and leaders.

We meet on Sundays nights from 6-8pm at the NewCity office. For more information on how your child can become a part of what God is doing in and through NCSC, please contact us at
