The Staff of Next Step Schools

Newsbite 76                                                                         December 23, 2016
I would like to take this opportunity to share with parents, students and friends of Next Step that January will be my last month as Principal.  It has been a wonderful 6 ½ years and I have thoroughly enjoyed helping the staff, students and families choosing to be part of our programs.  At the start of the second semester I will be Principal of Bev Facey Community High School. I look forward to the new experience while working with another group of excellent educators.  I have many fond memories and believe that we have created a great option for students to pursue their learning.  I leave you with a quote which has inspired my work over the years.
“If you treat an individual as he is, he will remain how he is. But if you treat him as if he were what he ought to be and could be, he will become what he ought to be and could be.”
― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Christmas Lunch Celebrations
Each of our locations hosted a Christmas Lunch with our students and their families. This tradition has occurred at Next Step Schools for many years. It is a time for celebrating, food, fun, and festivities for all who attend.
Fort Saskatchewan celebrated with turkeys and ham donated from Umicore.
The students in Sherwood Park prepared a turkey with all the fixings for a crowd of hungry people.
Students and staff enjoyed a lovely Christmas lunch of turkey and stuffing. The lunch was also attended by the soon to be Acting Principal of Next Step Schools, Sunny Sandhu.

This time of year brings festivities and family fun. It is a time for reminiscing and looking forward. The Sherwood Park Leadership group would like to extend warm holiday greetings to Next Step students, families, and staff. Have a safe and wonderful holiday season and Happy New Year.
