A Good Day For a Walk in Fort Saskatchewan
On Monday, May 2nd, a group of Fort Saskatchewan students enjoyed a walk.
As one of the many activities during Mental Health Week, a group of Fort Saskatchewan students went for a walk and connected with each other. They took a stroll during one of the many beautiful days to get a breath of fresh air and enjoyed each others company.
A Baking Success
Students serve up a cup of coffee and cookies to Mr. Pallister.
More people enjoy the fellowship and baking.
Next Step Student Leadership hosted a bake sale on May 5th with all proceeds going towards the Jacob Larue Award. This year, our school community lost someone very important to us and so to honour Jacob’s memory, Next Step will be presenting an award to a graduating student in Jacob’s name. The award funds will be used to pay for graduation ceremony celebrations for the recipient, including photos, grad tickets, etc.
Ice Cream Social in Vegreville
Caitlin enjoys making her Ice Cream Sundae!
Vegreville participated in Mental Health Awareness Week through various activities. “The Little Pail of Happiness” was implemented by multiple organizations in Vegreville, which contains small notes of happy thoughts and inspiration for staff, students and guests to the school. Similar quotes are also placed in the window to be viewed from the outside and were changed frequently. Both of these projects will be continued throughout the school year. Staff and students also signed up for, “Text4Mood” (Alberta Health Services), which provides free supportive text messages daily (to subscribe, text “mood” to 7606703130). A highlight of Mental Health Awareness Week for both students and staff was an Ice Cream Social that was held on Thursday, May 5th in the afternoon. Students reviewed the positive nutritional benefits of a banana split and its assorted toppings. This was tied to the biology curriculum. Different genres of music was played during the Social.

Sherwood Park is running every Monday starting at 2:37 p.m. Students and teachers will be going for a neighborhood run/walk. Participants of all levels will learn about proper pacing and progression to experience success. The club is supported by the Alberta Medical Association and Ever Active Schools so students will receive running logs, resources and maybe use technology to track their progress. Students taking Phys. Ed. can even log this time for their course. Please contact Michel or Susan if you are interested or have any questions.
