Students from all levels applaud landmark declaration

Joint-statementPARIS – On March 17th education ministers met to discuss how education can support social inclusion in Europe. At the meeting a declaration was launched calling for and outlining commitments on all policy levels. European Students’ Union (ESU) and the Organising Bureau of European School Student Unions (OBESSU) applaud the commitments and offer their support. Read more >>>


EU Youth Conference : empowering youth political participation

EU Youth Conference 2Between 23 and 26 of March, OBESSU Board member Oona Heiska, together with over 200 young people and decision-makers, gathered for the EU Youth Conference in Riga, as part of the Latvian Presidency of the EU. National Youth Councils, youth delegates, International Non-Governmental Youth Organizations (INGYO), as well as national decision-makers, enthusiastically discussed about youth political participation across Europe. UdS fights to stop “BUONA SCUOLA”

UDS 1On the 12th of March 2015 there were 40 school student demonstrations all over Italy. This important date was convened by Unione degli Studenti (UdS) against the idea of the ​​school system contained in the guidelines of “Buona Scuola“, the school reform developed by the Italian government. Although thousands of students demonstrated against the reform, the Government has not taken into account students’ demands and proposals. Read more >>>

Structured Dialogue on the Move

SD 2From the 18th to the 21st of February, OBESSU attended the event “Structured Dialogue on the Move” which was held in the stunning setting of Larnaca, Cyprus. The Structured Dialogue (SD) is a process aiming to promote the active participation of young people in democratic life and to foster discussions between young people and EU policy-makers. OBESSU – The Organising Bureau of European School Student Unions is the platform for cooperation between the national school student unions active in general secondary and secondary vocational education in Europe. It was founded in April 1975 in Dublin, Ireland and brings together Member and Observer organisations from around 20 European countries. All member organisations are independent, national, representative and democratic school student organisations.
