RIGHT TO REPRESENTATION: the last activity of the EYF Workplan 2014

01smallWhat does representation mean? Who do school student organisations represent and how? Is there a “right” to representation? Do individual have to choose or organisations have a duty to represent everyone? How to ensure that organisations truly reflect the voice of its members/school students? These were some of the questions that a group of around 40 representatives from OBESSU Member, Candidate and Partner Organisations explored during the conference Right to Representation, 5-12 December, in Vilnius. This was organised in cooperation with Lietuvos moksleivių sąjunga (LMS) and the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe (EYF). Toolbox for young campaigners on Vocational Education and Training

cover VETIn 2012 OBESSU launched a campaign called “Claim your Voice!” which tackled aspects of Vocational Education and Training (VET), such as participation, quality materials, quality internships and apprenticeships. The campaign was run by OBESSU together with its Member and Candidate Organisations, and was coordinated by a Working Group and a Policy Officer on VET.
During the training, student activists shaped contents and shared best practices which were then processed and gathered in this toolbox: a collection of practical ideas, information and concrete tools each school student activist or trainer can use when dealing with Vocational Education and Training.

OBESSU at the European Youth Forum General Assembly

yfjThe European Youth Forum General Assembly was held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania at the end of November. (This is, by the way, hopefully the same place where OBESSU will have next year’s Convention) The discussions included the report of action for the last years in the form of the Progress Report of 2013-2014, the finances of the platform, policy documents on mobility and youth work and, very important for OBESSU, the Work Plan for the years 2015-2016. After many discussions, the Work Plan now includes a more holistic approach to education than what was originally proposed. We hope that OBESSU’s fruitful cooperation with the Euorpean Youth Forum in the field of education can continue. Read more >>>
