Thought Provoking, Honest,
Inspiring, No Nonsense Updates
for Kindred Spirits.
Week 15
15th April 2021

Having travelled to 18 African countries with well over 200 safaris in my life, I am excited to share news on 3 destinations:

ZAMBIA: Quite honestly Zambia rates as one of my ultimate safari destinations. The combination of authentic yet beautiful camps, together with leading safari guides and a wide diversity of safari experiences (from water based canoeing and boating to day and night game drives plus walking) make this one of the most spectacular safari experiences on the continent.

SOUTH AFRICA: With large tracts of privately owned and managed reserves, South Africa is a leader in conservation through the protection of bio-diversity. Here we are able to be flexible and provide opportunities for active conservation engagement.

MOZAMBIQUE: Is most certainly one of the best coastlines in Africa soaked in sunshine, with white beaches and azure waters. Easy to access in combination with South Africa (even now with PCR testing) and perfect as a stand-alone beach break or safari combination.

We are open. All arrivals need a 72-hour negative PCR test.
South Africa is operating well and internal flight access is no issue at all.
Airlink are flying from South Africa to Vilanculos and PCR testing for departing flights is done at Azura.
Getting into Zambia is not an issue, we are waiting for confirmation from ProFlight regarding their internal schedule.

reTHINKing the safari experience

Kwandwe Private Game Reserve and Marataba Conservation Camps are launching connected experiences focused on conservation and adventure in the wild.

The past year has given us time to rethink how we can immerse guests in the wilderness either as a one-night sleep-out or take it a little further and engage on a 4-night conservation and mindful safari experience.  Hands-on conservation participation is far more accessible in South Africa's privately owned reserves like Kwandwe and Marataba. Here the land-owners are the custodians of their wilderness and have to take direct responsibility through active management of land, wildlife and security. This provide a unique opportunity for guests to get out of the normal morning and evening game drive routine and get into active participation.

Into the Wild KWANDWE
A 4 night stay at Galpin Tented Camp for a group of up to 8 guests. The perfect conservation based experience for a family or group of friends.

Opt for a one-night (or a few nights) in the soon to launch Star Camp and combine this with active conservation and wild walking. Ideal for families.

reNEWable energy at Azura Retreats

The first business in Mozambique to turn to Tesla batteries powered by solar panels, Azura Retreats is doing their part to preserve the environment.

The installation is underway for Tesla battery banks utilizing a 400Kw solar plant with 3,200m2 of solar panels, allowing the resort to go carbon neutral.

In addition, guests can contribute to saving the planet by offsetting the carbon footprint that their flights create, by buying trees that Azura will plant at Chateau Pas de Loup in France.  The Chateau will then not only be where the wines served at the resort are produced, but also as a part of the Carbon Capture Tree Planting programme.
We have space across our Portfolio for the 2021 safari season. Do not hesitate to contact us at any stage if we can assist with some last minute safari planning and do not forget to check our live online availability portal:
