“But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent?”  Romans 10:14-15a NLT
The World Went To Pieces
By Bobbie Overgaard, The Net Manager

We’ve all experienced it, haven’t we?  Has anyone been through a time in your life that is similar to what we are going through now?  I haven’t!  Like most of you, I’m sick and tired of it, and so I try to stay busy and focus on other things.
One of my favorite quotes by Martin Luther seems to address this situation.
“Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant
my apple tree.”
There are many things that I love, maybe as much as Martin Luther loved his apple tree, and so that is what I focus on.  Can you find some good, even in the middle of a pandemic?  The best benefit to me has been the fact that I can watch 2-4 live streamed Sunday church services every week from around the United States.   Even if the world goes to pieces, I also love to follow the work of a number of missions and missionaries.  I’m sure you know many of them as well.  There are the Abels and Lees in Brazil, the Abels in Paraguay, the Reiters in Australia, the Raans, the Schierkolks and the list goes on and on.  And we can’t forget the Swansons, Lees and Crowells in Alaska!  I’m not going to play favorites, but having now been to Alaska many times, I certainly do have a fondness for this ministry.
Speaking of Alaska, I imagine that if you are now reading the Alaska Newsletter, you probably know all about The Net, or don’t you?  Do you know this is a wonderful little coffee house ministry open every year (except this year, of course) during the salmon season in June and July in Naknek, Alaska?  Maybe you’re one of the wonderful people that have supported this ministry with prayers, finances, Bibles and baking supplies, but have you ever been there?  It’s a place where bears walk down main street, which by the way, is the ONLY street!  It’s also a place where people from around the world come to earn a living fishing and working in the canneries and in their free time they visit us at The Net.  Some come seeking Him, while others just wander in out of curiosity knowing perhaps that they can get a free cup of coffee and a cookie.  It doesn’t really matter why they come, but instead what matters is that there is an opportunity to share a Bible and tell them about the free gift of salvation.  Wouldn’t you like to be a part of that?  Perhaps you’d like to consider a trip to Alaska next summer to plant seeds, and I don’t mean apple seeds!
This sign is on my brother Stan’s farm (where I grew up) near Dalton, Minnesota.  My brother and his wife, Stan & Shelley Overgaard, love apple trees too! They have 80+ apple trees plus a number of other fruit trees on the farm.
Prayer & Praises
  1. Prayers for the kids, teachers and families as they are distant learning.
  2. Prayers for souls to come know the Lord.
  3. Prayers for an abundance of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control.
  4. Praise that Malachi's eyes are doing well. They had another appointment this month and will be going back in three weeks or so again. His eyes were just a touch better, but the ophthalmologist wants to keep close tabs on him while the medicine plays "catch up" basically. Prayers for clear eyes and safety in travel amidst Covid.
  5. Pray for safety in winter flying.
  6. Prayer for the increase in COVID cases and the impact of in-state travel. Thankful for relatively low case numbers in the Bristol Bay.
  7. Pray for the spiritual growth for the Sunday School kids. Thankful for a good group of kids each week!
