EXTRA Learning Series

While we are all socially distanced and how we work is rapidly shifting, Pride in Health + Wellbeing is committed to staying connected and engaged with our member organisations. We have developed a new series of EXTRA learning opportunities, above and beyond our regular online learning. Covering a broad range of topics, these sessions are designed to enhance your LGBTQ inclusion initiatives and benefit all staff in your organisation.

IDAHOBIT "Breaking the Silence" Panel Event

Pride in Diversity and the Pride in Health & Wellbeing team are showing support for International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia & Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) 2020 through a panel event raising visibility of our diverse individuals across the spectrum of diverse gender identities and sexualities. Our panel will share their own personal  experiences and what IDAHOBIT and breaking the silence means to them.

Because IDAHOBIT falls on Sunday 17th May, we're getting in early and will be hosting this event via Zoom, on Friday 15th May, from 3pm - 4pm (AEST).

We are aiming to record this session, and will make it available for members to watch on our Vimeo channel.
EXTRA Sessions - May 2020
These sessions are an extra benefit to your regular membership benefits, and are freely available to all employees of member organisations. We encourage you to share this newsletter within your organisation so that all staff can register for the sessions that appeal to them.

While we have pivoted to using Zoom, we are aware that many organisations choose not to use this platform. Where possible, we have scheduled repeat sessions using WebEx to allow maximum access for our members.

Trans & Gender Diverse Recruitment
Senior Relationship Manager Samantha Webster will talk through some of the barriers faced by trans and gender diverse people in applying for and securing meaningful and sustainable employment, and how HR and recruitment practitioners can reduce those barriers. Access to employment is critical for people to have the ability to support themselves and their families, and for their wellbeing. Previous research has indicated that marginalised groups in general have less access to employment and career opportunities due to their marginalised identity. The impact, unfortunately, is much more severe for TGD individuals

The forum will include experts from the Regional NSW community as well as local entertainers from the Hunter and Northern Rivers areas who will guide, inspire and entertain us through this difficult time.
