“It’s not enough to wish, dream, hope. Even children know this. We must set sail into the sea of uncertainty. We must meet fear face-to-face. We must take our dreams as maps for a greater journey. Dreams, to come true, need a good story. So go live one.”

― Vironika Tugaleva.

From humble beginnings in the corner of my imagination, Scribble Ink has leaped through its elementary years and become a frightfully-fabulous-fun-inducing paradigm, imbued in a creative writing, new media, arts education electrifying-empire! Lecturing in universities and theatres, running workshops in schools, colleges, community centres, libraries, youth clubs and care homes, providing a poetry competition for the Olympics and ‘live writing’ sessions at festivals are some of the pleasures I've had (to name a few...and long may they continue). Visit the SBloghetti page to read an archive of case studies and testimonials.

Last year  saw the pre-pre-pre-production stages of Scribble’s biggest project to date. Scribble Online was coined in late 2013 with aims to provide easily accessible, affordable, flexible and fun accredited online courses for writers from all walks of life. The work began in spring of 2014, and so much has happened within the space of 10 months. If I were to document everything in detail, this newsletter would fast become a million-word essay, so to summarise:

In other news...
  • Scribble Ink has a second logo (pictured above). I didn’t have the heart to abandon the initial one but, it was time for an upgrade — something more adaptable and easy-going. At times you’ll see the original, star spangled, squiggly one and at other times you’ll see the simple, loveable laid back one. It all depends on the nature of the conversation. A huge thanks to the Scribble Online focus group for their suggestions and to the logo designer, Ashley Bloom
  • The main website had a face lift! Much has been done to ensure that Scribble Ink’s six main services are easily accessible, digestible and exciting. Take a virtual tour of the site and feel free to share your thoughts.
  • Scribble Ink has a new online support service. Hit the ‘click here to chat’ link (available on many of the webpages) to be directed to a live chat box. Use the service to receive quick, direct answers to all your Scribble related questions.

On a personal note, as Scribble Ink has evolved, I have too. Starting out as a spacey 21 year old, while taking on work experience and penny paying jobs, hoping to make some sense of adulthood, I began collating ideas for the writers' revelation revolution. The first 3 years saw late nights and early mornings, yours truly frantically putting together last minute bits for workshops, hair and clothes covered in Pritt Stick, ears burning as the sound of a dying printer would spew out flyers and business cards, battling a punch to the stomach that is anxiety... I’d often wonder if I was making a mistake. I'd consider throwing in the towel to focus my energy on â€˜getting a proper job’. I compared the social enterprise and myself to others (often more established organisations with way more people, power and money...silly really). In spite of the doubts brought on by the conventional standards of the world, I couldn’t help but carry on… Now, we’re 5 years in and I don’t regret a thing! Scribble Ink is forever proving itself as a worthwhile experience for both myself, and other FAN-TAB-U-LOUS writers!

A huge thank you
to all my Scribble Nation Workshop participants, Scribble Island and Scribble Webinar clients. You are living proof that the writers’ revelation revolution works. Many thanks to London South Bank University for such great faith in Scribble Ink! The support I’ve received to ensure the social enterprise remains sustainable has been better than I could have hoped for. I’m forever indebted to Cami, SE1 United, and the Culture Collective for being a fabulous support network and focus group. Thanks are also due to Dani and Jessica of the University of East London! Our collaborative partnership has kept the heart of The Scribble Ink Ambassador Programme pumping, and many thanks to the ambassadors who were my extra pair of hands when I needed them most. Finally, to my dear family and friends for remaining optimistic at times when I couldn’t. Your support  has shone through in so many ways — from listening to me brainstorm ideas, recommending Scribble Ink to friends and colleagues, sharing Facebook posts, buying  eVouchers, badges, postcards, etc, and gifting the products to others…the list is endless.

Here's to another 5 years!

Best wishes,
