CPWD's IDEA Committee
As advocates for disability rights, we believe it is our responsibility to advocate for social justice and actively condemn systemic racism and oppression. To demonstrate our commitment to our values and address the current climate of racism and oppression, the Center for People With Disabilities (CPWD) created the Inclusion, Diversity & Equity into Action (IDEA) Committee on 8/27/20. One of our core values is to have all groups equally represented with an equal voice and equal access, while actively supporting community inclusion for all.
February is Black History Month (also known as African-American History Month). Black History Month is dedicated to honoring the long history of Black Americans and their many valuable contributions to society.
In honor of Black History Month, the IDEA Committee will be sending out informational emails throughout the month, focused on the intersection of race and disability. Our goal is to help foster more awareness regarding this interconnectedness so we can all be better advocates and allies for equity and inclusion.
