Hope transforms!
Mary lives in the Bondeni community. She is married and is a mother to three boys and one girl. Like most women from the slum, Mary survived on inconsistent casual labor. When MOHI opened its doors to the Bondeni community, Mary's two children were recruited into the school.
John, her firstborn son, is now in high school at Ndovoini, MOHI’s boarding school, while his brother is in grade six at Bondeni.
After Mary’s children joined MOHI, Mary also joined our skills training program. She later graduated as a tailor and was given a tailoring machine from MOHI to help her start her own business. Mary and her husband worked together and started a small business where they make and sell pillows and pillow cases. Through this business, they are now able to support their family.
Mary is a born-again Christian and her family attends church regularly. Since the family joined MOHI, they have been transformed. Mary has a stable income now and does not rely on the inconsistent casual labor anymore.
