Hope transforms!

Victor Wambua is an energetic and visionary young man that God rescued from the jaws of the enemy through MOHI. Due to the financial challenges his family had, Victor was forced to drop out of school. He decided to try his luck in the matatu industry (public transportation).
What seemed to be a promising opportunity turned into a snare. Victor was introduced to vices such as drugs and robbery. In 2013, he went to live in the Mathare slums, where he joined a gang which was involved in robbery within the city. He was illegally in possession of guns for executing their plans. He was one of the most wanted by the police in 2016. His mother, who was on staff at our Pangani Center, tried to rescue him but nothing worked. In early 2017, Victor was offered an opportunity to work in one of our schools as a caretaker and he made a commitment to attend a discipleship class and turn to God. It was a step of faith towards transformation.
On May 14, 2017, he received the Lord Jesus as savior and committed to attend Outreach Hope Church Ndovoini. It hasn’t been easy for Victor, but through discipleship and genuine love, God has transformed this young man. He has joined our staff microfinance group and has started saving with the goal of buying land for him and his mother.
On July 22, 2018, Victor was baptized. We are hopeful that he will continue to follow Christ's footsteps for God’s glory.

Term highlights

  • During the term we conducted the spiritual programs which were very successful. A total of 63 students went through a discipleship class. After seeking consent from parents, we baptized 49 students on July 22, 2018.
  • A student mission team from Outreach Community Church led a worship experience in which 63 souls gave their lives to Christ.
  • Our students participated in music competitions with other Kenyan private and public schools. The teachers’ efforts to train and nurture students’ talents have been overwhelming. The high school section participated at a regional level with a variety of items including folk songs, poems, and sacred songs. Our primary section were champions in folk songs and poems and will be representing MOHI at the national level.
  • There is also an improvement noted in sports during the term. Most students engaged in soccer, volleyball, netball and gymnastics. They participated in competitions up to the county level. Our school is committed to continuously train and nurture students’ talents because every child is gifted differently.
  • Fifty-nine high school students also got an opportunity to attend an agricultural trip to Jomo Kenyatta University. This trip enhanced their skills and knowledge and motivated their attitudes towards farming. Others participated in math contests and science symposiums with other private and public schools from around the county.
  • Students from both primary and high school took their midterm and end-term tests. We have seen great improvement noted in most classes.

Working together for transformation

Lakeside Christian Church helped lead a successful VBS program for students in kindergarten to seventh grade. They also did home visits and attended the church community.

229 students at the Ndovoini school are unsponsored.

Please join us in prayer

  • We are trusting God for completion of the high school tuition block and also for the provision of funds for permanent classrooms and the dormitory for the primary school.
  • Pray for our students as they prepare to take their final examinations. We are trusting God for 100% transition to high school, colleges and universities.
  • We are praying for more partners to sponsor our kids and others on the waiting list for recruitment and transformation of their families.
