Thank-you to all who participated in our hybrid 45th Annual Powell Street Festival!
We had a great time with our festival this year, both over the past month and the July 31st and August 1st Festival Weekend! We loved seeing your #powellstfest celebrations on social media, dancing the Paueru Mashup, creating the Daruma Community Art Installation, watching on demand videos and community announcements, and so much more!
Thank-you to everyone who volunteered, bought food or merch or lottery tickets, celebrated the festival, contributed works and community announcements, or stopped by to hang out online or in Paueru Gai, it was wonderful to see you!
Be sure to check out the hashtag #powellstfest on social media to see how others celebrated this year and to add your own memories to the conversation!
Watch a quick recap of the Festival Weekend! Plus, check out our YouTube channel for an extended version, curated playlists of On Demand content, and recordings of past events!

360 Riot Walk is an interactive walking tour that utilizes 360° video technology to tell the story of the 1907 Anti-Asian Riots in Vancouver. It traces the history and route of the mob that attacked the Chinese Canadian and Japanese Canadian communities following the demonstration and parade organized by the Asiatic Exclusion League in Vancouver. Participants are brought into the social and political environment of the time where racialized communities were targeted through legislated as well as physical acts of exclusion and violence. The soundtrack is available in four languages of the local residents of the period: English, Cantonese, Japanese and Punjabi.
The guided tour is approximately 2 hours in length, followed by a post-tour reflection where tea and light snacks will be served. Sterilized tablets and headphones will be provided. Maximum 10 participants per tour.
