NOW HIRING - Festival Coordinators

Are you an enthusiastic team player who is interested in contributing to the community? Do you want to apply your skills and make meaningful connections this summer? If you answered YES then we want to hear from you! See below for details on each position:
 

PRODUCTION COORDINATOR 

Powell Street Festival Society seeks a dedicated team player for the position of Production Coordinator for the 44th annual Powell Street Festival.  This temporary position is a full-time position (35 hr/week) and will start on May 11 and end the last week of August 2020. 

Working with the PSFS staff, Board of Directors and festival core committee, the Production Coordinator will be responsible primarily for filling all volunteer slots during Festival weekend and pre-Festival events. Duties include:  

  • soliciting and confirming site rentals  

  • obtaining all necessary permits 

  • in collaboration with staff, liaising with applicants and assessing vendor applications  

  • compiling core coordinator supply and information kits 

  • organizing set-up, layout and take-down of Festival 

  • assisting other core coordinators as needed 

  • assisting in coordination of other society events (May-July) 

  • necessary post-festival wrap-up 

  • assisting with day-to-day office tasks as needed 

  • The Production Coordinator will be the main site contact for all rentals and site-related issues. Please note that this position will also require some manual labour with the set-up and take-down of the festival. 


PRODUCTION ASSOCIATE 

Powell Street Festival Society seeks a dedicated team player for the position of Production Associate for the 44th annual Powell Street Festival.  This temporary position is a full-time position (35 hr/week) and will start on May 11 and end the last week of August 2020. 

Working with the Executive Director (ED), PSFS staff, Board of Directors and Festival Core Committee, the Production Associate will be responsible for assisting with the details of the Festival coordination. Duties include: 

  • assisting the Production Coordinator (PC) soliciting and confirming site rentals  

  • assisting the PC obtaining all necessary permits 

  • liaising with the festival vendors 

  • assisting with the program copy and emcee notes 

  • liaising with the festival artists   

  • soliciting donations 

  • assisting other core coordinators as needed 

  • assisting in coordination of other society events (May-August) 
     
  • assisting with day-to-day office tasks as needed
  • necessary post-festival wrap-up. Please note that this position will also require some manual labour with the set-up and take-down of the festival.


VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR 

Powell Street Festival Society seeks a dedicated team player for the position of Volunteer Coordinator for the 44th annual Powell Street Festival.  This temporary position is a full-time position (35 hr/week) and will start on May 11 and end the last week of August 2020. 

Working with the PSFS staff, Board of Directors and festival core committee, the Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible primarily for filling all volunteer slots during Festival weekend and pre-Festival events. Duties include:  

  • finding new sources of volunteers 

  • overseeing the efficient delivery of a complex volunteer schedule during the set-up, take-down and actual Festival weekend  

  • updating and maintaining the volunteer database and online application process 

  • scheduling volunteers 

  • finding new core volunteers 

  • organizing and leading Volunteer Orientation sessions 

  • working with the Stakeholder Engagement coordinator to plan the Volunteer Appreciation party 

  • solicitation of donations for Volunteers 

  • participating in day-to-day administrative work  

  • necessary post-festival wrap-up

The programme centres around the work of composer Rodney Sharman, as Rachel prepares to record his complete solo piano works. The Future is you and me


We are seeking 15 creative female-identifying, non-binary, and gender diverse BIPOC artists to participate in the Music 2020 session of The Future is you and me. This music-focused program gives participants opportunities to develop confidence, gain professional skills, and build a network of like-minded peers and mentors to help them move forward on their creative path. Sign up to participate in FREE workshops covering topics such as grant writing, sound recording, and putting on shows! Deadline for application is February 7, 2020.

The Consulate General of Japan and The Japan Foundation are pleased to present a series of three recent films from Japan promoting greater understanding of Japanese culture.  All films are in Japanese with English subtitles; Admission is Free, -seating is limited on a first-come basis.
