Shana Tova!
Here we are in the Days of Awe between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. It was wonderful being together to welcome in the New Year. We hope you found the services meaningful, and we look forward to seeing you on Yom Kippur.
As we heard during the services, Teshuvah, Tefilah, and Tzedakah
repentance, prayer, and charitable givingare at the core of the spiritual work we’re called upon to do during this season. The spiritual needs we face are greater than ever, but the circumstances of life during a pandemic, with fires raging through our state, will make it challenging to address each of these.
Teshuva, repentance, calls on us to have direct and open communication with those we have harmed. It will be difficult to do so when we cannot meet face-to-face. Tefilah, where we gather together shoulder-to-shoulder to pray and sing in our beautiful sanctuary, will take place mostly remotely.
And Tzedakah, charity, the gift of our material resources to support the needs of others, requires even more sacrifice in these days when so many jobs, salaries, and household budgets have been affected by COVID-19 and the fires and smoke enveloping our community.

Nevertheless, all three of these acts
Teshuva, Tefilah, Tzedakahwill be vital for us to take on this year, perhaps even more than ever.
We hope that everyone who makes their spiritual home in this congregation and partakes of our High Holiday offerings will respond to our tradition’s call to give tzedakah generously at this season. Thank you to those who have already given!
Our financial goal for this year’s High Holiday Appeal is $10,000. We are about three quarters of the way there!
All gifts are appreciated and welcome. Please take time today to send in a contribution via mail or go to the TBI website to make your online gift. (
Select "High Holy Days Appeal" in the dropdown.)

Thank you!

May you and your loved ones be inscribed and sealed for a good year.
