Dear reader,

On behalf of the whole SHOW consortium, I am happy to welcome you to this first project newsletter.

SHOW, as a Horizon 2020 project funded by the European Commission, is unique in its kind: It is the largest project ever launched in terms of number of consortium partners and cities involved! It brings together 69 partners from 13 EU countries to support the deployment of shared, connected and electrified automation in 20 cities across a four-year period.

Beyond being a large project, it is also extremely ambitious with the development of technical solutions, business models and priority scenarios for impact assessment. Unique in SHOW is also that we target real service operation in each pilot site, lasting for at least 12 months. We expect that the learnings of the project will strongly impact the path towards Connected, Cooperative, and Automated Mobility (CCAM) in Europe… and beyond! Indeed, we aim in SHOW at collaborating with universities and industries worldwide.

Although we had a rough start due to the COVID-19 crisis, we managed to cope and lay solid foundations of the project in terms of technical progresses and positive working interactions.

Let's get this SHOW on the road,
We are glad that you are with us for this exciting journey!

Dr. Henriette Cornet, UITP
SHOW Project Coordinator

About SHOW
The Horizon 2020 project SHOW aims to support the deployment of shared, connected and electrified automation in urban transport, to advance sustainable urban mobility.

During the project, real-life urban demonstrations taking place in 20 cities across Europe will see the integration of fleets of automated vehicles in public transport, demand-responsive transport (DRT), Mobility a Service (MaaS) and Logistics as a Service (LaaS) schemes.
SHOW is the biggest and most holistic ever initiative piloting automated vehicles in urban environments. It gathers a strong partnership including 69 partners from 13 EU-countries and fosters international cooperation by collaborating with organisations from the US, South Korea, Australia, China, and other countries.

Business and operating models for CCAM: First insights from SHOW
One of the objectives of SHOW is to explore business schemes for automated vehicles that are cost-efficient and can be adapted to existing and planned infrastructure, to fleets, as well as to different cities and regions and their operational and legal framework.

For this reason, several SHOW partners are investigating Business and Operating Models for Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM). During Summer 2020, they worked on providing an overview of business and operating models for existing mobility services covering different types of services (MaaS, LaaS and DRT) and to benchmark them to identify relevant potentials for new business and operating models.
