Art Biz
Thanks to the efforts of many of you, The Matsiko Choir spent three nights at the church this week and we enjoyed a unique, joy-filled performance by the choir last night (Thursday). A special thank you to Lois Arthur and Eunice Wilson who led the way.

For the third year in a row, I was struck by how the simple presence of the kids is luminous. Yes, it is cliche to be inspired by poor, marginalized kids who are rising above difficult circumstances, however, I was reminded that is it is real and it matters.

I am so proud of how many of you quietly provided enough food for them to take some on the road, enough blankets and sleeping bags to feel very at home sleeping (and playing) in the Everts Room and elsewhere.  I am encouraged by those who were able to attend the concert AND how you brought friends along with you. So good. Finally, I am inspired by how many of you chose to sponsor kids.

If you sponsored a Matsiko kid, I would love to hear about your journey with them.

Grace and Peace,

Sean

Join us for worship with communion on the Chancel in the Sanctuary this week.

three highlights

Sing this Sunday!

A small group will help lead worship this week by singing a short, familiar song in preparation for communion ("Trisagion," by Fernando Ortega). All you need is a warm heart. Join us at 9:30a to rehearse the song.

Sun May 19 Second Hour: Worship

We will gather for the second time as part of a series of conversations about our worshipping life together. Our last conversation yielded meaningful insights into how we grow as a worshipping community.

There are various ways you can take a "next step" into the worshipping life of our community. When you take a next step by reading, greeting, offering food, contributing musically, sharing a story, or a "Soapbox Sermon," you deepen our life together as you deepen your own spiritual life. A simple next step is joining us for a 45-minute discussion following worship.

Sun 6/2,
Open (& Affirming) Mic Night

Our Open (& Affirming) Mic Nights have become quite an anticipated community building event drawing from a broad spectrum of the wider community. Our first two have featured an eclectic mix of music, spoken word, visual art, and more. Equal parts inspiring and heart-warming, it is a unique opportunity to celebrate one another and welcome others into our open and affirming sacred space.
