“The waiting....is the hardest part."
- Tom Petty

What are you waiting for?

How this question is asked, the tone, makes all the difference, doesn't it? Emphasize different words and it can sound empathic and inviting or shameful and accusatory.

When the question is asked makes a difference as well. If you are in the car at a stop sign or on the receiving end of a light blue box labeled Tiffany's.

At this particular moment together, let's revisit the formative, underappreciated power of waiting. It's a gift and a skill. Let's plumb the depths of our waiting. Expect to hear some honking behind you, but expect to receive an unexpected gift.

Advent blessings,

PS: Here's a stellar video of "The Waiting" featuring Eddie Vedder. Notice how Tom makes us wait, wait, wait, for the bridge and solo. So good!
