Pledging - Friendships and Community

Pledging is about relationships - friendship and community. When we express God as Trinity, three-in-one, we embrace the nature of God as a dynamic relationship - always changing and always the same.

Last Sunday, we heard from David Barbrow (our Treasurer) and Abi Kugadas (our Secretary/Clerk).

David: "I love that during Bible study, we feel free to take a biblical text that is quirk and go deep. We don't let constricting notions of piety come in the way of asking questions or bringing up topics."

Abi: "I grew up in Sri Lanka in an inter-faith family. My mother instilled in me the conviction that our offerings--great and small--make a difference in the world. When I first came to First Baptist, I attended a Bible study and encountered a diversity of people and topics. Topics ranged from physics to astronomy. I like it that here we have faith and also ask questions."

Lois Arthur and Neicy Rossi will be speaking this coming Sunday, Sunday, March 3.

Pledge Sunday is March 17. Celebrate our friendships and community my offering your Pledge during worship that day. You may also Pledge online at www.fbcnewton.org/give

Annual Meeting Sunday, March 31

Our Annual Meeting will be held following worship on Sunday, March 31. Two items require a quorum and voting. The first is the approval of the annual budget and the second is the leadership slate for the next year (see more below). Members are urged to attend or vote by proxy (you can find more about voting by Proxy here including downloading a Proxy form).

How would you like to serve?

How would you like to serve?

In the next year, we are looking to mobilize our community in a new and fresh way. Even small investments of your unique gifts and experience can contribute significantly to the ministry and legacy of our church.

Our leadership would love to know where and how you are interested in contributing your unique abilities and experience.

- Does your heart beat fast for meeting the practical needs of others, for putting compassion into action?

- Are you interested in helping address the needs of our facilities and properties, either hands-on repairs and maintenance or helping us manage our rental profile, including working on new rental opportunities?

- Are you interested in contributing to our worship experience on Sunday mornings? Music, readings and creative elements? Greeting, serving communion and offering hospitality? We want to grow as a worshipping community.

- Would you be willing to open up your home just to share a meal?

- Do you have an interest or experience in finance that would make you a good fit for our finance team?

- What other interests do you have?

Take moment to email our Council directly (Council@fbcnewton.org) or Sean and John (Sean@fbcnewton.org, John@fbcnewton.org) with any thoughts or ideas you have about needs you see that you might be interested in contributing to. No obligations or commitments, we just want to get to know you better.
