"First keep the peace within yourself,
then you can also bring peace to others."
- Thomas a Kempis
"Keep the peace!"

Peacekeepers are "keepers of the peace". I met a "keeper" this week at the Baptist Social Union meeting with Chris Duncombe and Chris Edwards. Sally Snowman is the keeper of Boston's oldest lighthouse. She presented a detailed history of the 300 year old lighthouse.  She was featured by NPR in 2016.

In soccer, a goalkeeper does not score goals. but "keeps" an opposing team from scoring.

The first two weeks of Advent focus on hope and peace and they are entwined inextricably. We need them both in equal measures. They rise and fall together and Thomas a Kempis offers wise, time-tested wisdom.

There is peace tucked away in your heart that may need time and space to be accessed, to be activated. Take a moment today to let this peace arise.

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid." John 14:27

Advent blessings,

Sean

Poinsettia Celebration

We invite you to participate in our annual Holiday Poinsettia Celebration. Honor a loved one by purchasing a poinsettia in their name. The plants will decorate the Chapel and Sanctuary until Christmas Eve, then you are welcome to take your plant home for the holidays or donate it to spread holiday cheer to those in need.

12-16 Gift Wrapping for Veterans @ 11:15 AM, Chapel

Join us for a Blue Christmas worship in the spirit of Advent to acknowledge and celebrate loved ones who are no longer with us in body, but very much in spirit. Following worship, join our industrious Compassion in Action group as we wrap gifts to be distributed to veterans.

12-23 Eat & Carol over Cocoa @ 11:15 AM, Chapel

An Old Fashioned Carol sing...with a twist! Gathered around the piano after worship, we'll be caroling over hot chocolate. Bring a dish that represents your traditional Christmas memories. It does not have to be large in quantity. Just a little something that one or two others can nibble and share the Christmas spirit. Wonder what your neighbor's favorite Christmas dish is!

12-24 Christmas Eve Services, Sanctuary

Family Service – 5:35 PM. A service with readings by children and families that retells the Christmas story through scripture, poetry, and song.

Candlelight Service – 11 PM. A candlelight service that celebrates Christmas joy on a beautiful silent night.
