For United Methodists concerned about Israel and Palestine,
this IS the event of the quadrennium,
a unique opportunity to join national and global leaders
in setting a course for meaningful justice advocacy in our church.

Let others know about this first-of-its-kind event in the UMC! There's been nothing like it before and we don't know if or when there will be again.

FORWARD THE NEWS widely to your friends, congregations, networks,
and fellow peace and justice advocates across the Connection.

Dear <<First Name>>,

United Methodists from around the world, particularly those who have visited the Holy Land, are increasingly aware of the political realities in Israel and Palestine.

Legislation addressing Israel-Palestine is introduced at every recent General Conference, and is often accompanied by passionate debate.
To address United Methodists deep and growing concern for the people of the Holy Land, The United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries and Ginghamsburg Church are sponsoring the first denomination-wide conference focused on Palestine/Israel.
"Walking with Palestinian Christians…for holy justice and peace" will bring together church leaders and members from across the theological spectrum - and across the world - in Tipp City, Ohio, on Thursday and Friday, August 7-8, 2014.

At this trail-blazing conference, United Methodists and Palestinian Christians will join in prayer, fellowship and study, as we learn to put God’s call to love all our neighbors into united action for justice and peace.

Broad range of dialogue
Speaking about the recently announced schedule of conference workshops, Global Ministries' top executive Thomas Kemper said he is excited about the broad range of dialogue he expects these workshops to foster.
“While the topics are complex, this format gives us a framework to explore the situation through the unique lens of Palestinian Christians,” Kemper said.

Workshops will be presented in four diverse and highly relevant areas of focus:
Biblical/Theological Perspectives explores such subjects as
» Christian Zionism,
» Theologies of Land,
» Covenants between God & Humanity
and more.

» Promoting Holy Land Tours ,
and other topics.

Political, Economic and Social Advocacy and Actions includes

Most importantly, participants at "Walking with Palestinian Christians"
can expect to:

•    EXAMINE how religion both helps and hurts the quest
for a just and durable peace in the Holy Land.

•    DISCOVER the strategies and vision that United Methodist agencies and organizations use today to seek justice and peace in Palestine/Israel.

•    LEARN about the experiences of Global Ministries missionaries and Advance partners, how their work is affected by ongoing military occupation, and how we can support their mission work.

•    STRATEGIZE with Palestinians, ecumenical partners and United Methodist peacemakers how to tell the story of nonviolent actions that are needed for a just peace in the Holy Land.

•    EXPLORE the growing church efforts for nonviolent economic actions - including shareholder engagement, boycotts, divestment - that seek to alleviate suffering and bring an end to occupation and injustice.

•    SHARE ideas and resources to deepen the partnerships of seminaries and campuses wit
h the people of the Holy Land.

Key staff, church leaders, justice advocates and members from across the Connection who want the knowledge and tools enabling more and more United Methodists to take part in creating a just peace in Palestine and Israel are encouraged to register today.
