Toni McNaron, 79, is doing aerobics again after heart surgery

A year ago, Toni McNaron had no interest in keeping up with her routine of aerobics twice a week, gardening, and household projects and chores.

Thanks to the Penny George Institute for Health and Healing, she is back at it again - even mowing the lawn. McNaron said she would have experienced depression without the Penny George Institute. “The care I received was crucial to my physical and spiritual health,” she said. Research brief: Resilience Training shown to help reduce depression, anxiety and stress

Resilience Training helps people restore a balanced brain chemistry using mindfulness, diet, exercise and select micro-nutrients.

The Penny George Institute's eight-week program is for anyone who is experiencing over-stress, anxiety, mild depression, stress-related mental health conditions, or a desire to improve their physical and mental resilience.

Two studies conducted by by the Penny George Institute's Integrative Health Research Center showed Resilience Training had a significant effect on participants' key mental health scores, and helped with sleep quality and fatigue.

“The research shows that the combination of mindfulness training along with nutrition and exercise counseling can help people learn effective strategies to reduce depression, stress and anxiety, even among people who’ve had depression for years,” said Jeff Dusek, PhD, research director, Penny George Institute. Read more.

Support Resilience Training scholarships to help someone in need

“Resilience Training helped me to realize that I have the tools within myself to create a joyful, happy and fulfilling life,” said Deb, a participant.

While Resilience Training can change lives, not everyone can afford it.

The cost of Resilience Training is $900 due to its length and number of individual appointments with a holistic practitioner, licensed nutritionist and exercise physiologist.

The program is not broadly covered by health insurance. So people who aren’t covered and can’t afford it, miss out.

That’s where your support can make a huge difference. Make a donation  and designate your gift to “Resiliency Training Scholarships” to support sending someone to Resilience Training.
