Congratulations Landen Stricker & Brad Sisk!
Landen Stricker (12th Grade) and Brad Sisk (11th Grade) have been accepted to the Wright Scholar Research Internship.
The Wright Scholar Research Assistant program is a program for stellar high school students (juniors/seniors when they apply) who are competitively selected and matched with an AFRL scientist/engineer during the summer following their junior/senior year of high school.  During their 8-week internship, students not only gain meaningful experience working with their mentors on a research project, but will also be exposed to various STEM disciplines through classes/workshops/tours through the University of Dayton, Wright State University, and The Ohio State University.  They also tour places of interest like the AF Museum, as well as host weekly lecture series speakers including prominent scientists/engineers who share their expertise.  At the culmination of the program, students give a presentation on their project work to their mentors and Wright Scholar peers.  The program truly brings a wealth of information regarding future careers in engineering/science fields.

From the 6th Grade Teachers:
As we head to the end of our school year, we are beginning to plan our annual sixth grade auction.  This is such a great event for our kids and the culmination of our incentive program.  We try to make this event as exciting as possible for the students. Not only to have some fun, but also to reward them for their hard work all year long!  We are always looking for donations towards the auction and are not picky at all about the items we receive.  If you are interested in donating any items, we would be eager to take them off your hands.  We are including a list of some of the items the kids love to bid on, so if you have any of these treasures at home or would like to purchase for us, it would be greatly appreciated.
            2-liters of pop
            Bags of chips or popcorn
            Gift cards
Stuffed animals (can be gently used)
            Games or gently used puzzles
            Candy (all kinds and sizes)
            Drink cups
            Colored pencils and markers
            Art supplies

Remember what is junk to one person is someone else’s treasure.
Please send any of your donations to the middle school, specifically room 113.

Thank you, 6th grade team

Congratulations and best wishes to Guidance Counselor, Cathy Joefreda, on her retirement!

Attention Parents who have elected to participate in the Adopt-a-Senior Basket Program....

The high school office has been sending responses with graduate information so that you can customize your gift basket.  However, we are hearing that some email filters have been marking the emails as JUNK and putting it in the Junk Mail folder.  We encourage you to check your Junk Mail inbox for the response that you may have already received.  If you still do not see a response, you should continue to check back periodically with a scan of your junk mailbox.

Once you find the email that was incorrectly sent to your Junk Mail folder:  you should right click the email and choose an option that indicates it is "NOT JUNK" OR "MOVE TO INBOX".

This should help improve the accuracy as your filters work to put mail in the appropriate folders.

Would you like to Adopt-a-Senior this year?

We have a very tight-knit community here in Waynesville. Due to the events of the pandemic we want to shower our class of 2021 with love and comfort.  WHS will be sending out a link for anyone to sign up to adopt a senior.  We ask for approximately $50.00 worth of items.

On the link you will pick a number and add your name and phone number, we will then send you that seniors name and a brief description of that student.  We will have a due date on the baskets of May 1, 2021 to be brought to the High School office.

Please allow us up to two weeks to respond back with your senior number’s information

WMS Pathway Painting Project

Looking for ways to support our kids?

Here are some ways that we could use your help....

All students at WMS will be starting a School Pathway Painting Project within the next few weeks (more details coming soon).  We will be needing some supplies for the student body.

  • If you have any new or gently used paint brushes, we can use all sizes from very fine for writing on stones to 3" wide for priming.
  • If you would prefer to just sent in Lowes Gift Cards for the school to purchase any needed supplies, any denomination would be appreciated.

Thank you!!

Waynesville Elementary is in need of boxes!

As you know, Waynesville Elementary is looking forward to moving into our beautiful new building.  If you have any clean, sturdy, dry boxes in good condition, we would love to have them to pack. They can be dropped off at the elementary school office during regular school hours.  If you have a large amount of boxes you are willing to donate, you can call the office at 897-2761 to schedule a pickup.
