G.A.T. 75

At the apex of the roof in the baggage area of the depot (Castle Rock Museum) are the letters G A T and the number 75. Was this the beginning of the graffiti on the rhyolite wall in the depot that was completed in 1875? Were they someones initials and if so, whose? Those of us who work at the museum believe they are the initials of George Alvin Triplett, the first telegrapher at the new D&RG Train Depot in Castle Rock. George went on to be a very influential man in Castle Rock history. He was Castle Rock's first City Clerk and Recorder, the town's mayor, a County Treasurer, and County Judge. He was also involved in the beginning of the D.C. Fair and Rodeo. He even married the daughter of Father Dyer, "The snowshoe Itinereny preacher". What a life!! Do you know if The Triplett House is still standing in Castle Rock? And if so, where?

I am sure he would love to get a card from his many old friends.
