Castle Rock Historical Society
Welcome to 2013

Dear Friends of the Castle Rock Historical Society,

In 2013 we will build on all the great things we did in 2012. When we look back, we realize it's a lot! The Museum osted the annual Trolley Tour with the Town of Castle Rock, had several exhibits and special events, the Society created the Historical Marker program, we produced a Christmas Album, and made valuable new partnerships. Read the year-end report here.

We look forward to an equally vibrant 2013. We'll have walking and biking tours, presentations, special events, and fun with other local organizations. We are also continuing our plan of implementing business practices to assure the stability and longevity of the organization. For example, in 2013 we joined Giving First a fund-raising organization that requires strict reporting and adherence to business standards. As a member of Giving First we participated in Colorado Gives day and received our first donations through Giving First. Thank you to all our supporters!

Membership meetings are the third Thursday of every month at the P.S. Miller Library on Wilcox St. in Castle Rock. We are lining up a fascinating series of presentations. February 4, Valentines Day, will be "Women in Douglas County History," by our very own Shaun Boyd, VP, and Archivist at P.S. Miller Library. What a nice way to say "I love you" to your special gal: exploring fascinating women in local history!

Here is the 2013 calendar. It is linked from the Society's home page so you can keep track of what's going on. Each month this newsletter will tell you what's next, and keep you up-to-date with Society Happenings.

If you are looking for a fun way to become involved in the community please consider volunteering with the Society. We have lots of fun things to do: help at the Museum, help run events, social media postings, webmaster, and marketing, to name a few. If you have the skills, or want to learn, let us know. The Society is a great place to hone professional skills while having fun enriching the town with that "hometown" feeling we all love about Castle Rock.

If you have any ideas, suggestions or requests please let us know!

Warm regards for a fun 2013.
