YOU ARE INVITED
Environmental Workshop
Thursday, June 23, 2016
6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Oak Hill United Methodist Church - Fellowship Hall
7815 Hwy. 290 W., Austin, TX 78736
We’d like to welcome the community to join us at an Environmental Workshop to explore the science behind the Oak Hill Parkway environmental study. In addition, we’d like you to participate in a discussion prioritizing landscaping components including types of trees to be planted, bike and pedestrian amenities, creek enhancements, hardscapes, and areas for wildflowers and native grasses, etc.
The goal of this community workshop is to update the community on the research that has informed the project over the last eight months. Attendees will hear about the biology, history, archeology, geology and other work that is being conducted. This data will help determine a possible preferred alternative to move forward.
We have heard from the community that the natural environment is important to you, especially trees, wildflowers and native grasses. We have also heard that bicycle and pedestrian facilities with enhancements would also be beneficial to the area. Others have shared an interest in defining the Oak Hill community through signage or other aesthetic features and asked the project team to possibly include them in the project design. Through an interactive budget exercise, we will be asking for your priorities regarding these items as well as aesthetics, landscaping, tree plantings, tree relocation, and other elements.
