This companion work to Matthiessen's account of the FBI's campaign against the American Indian Movement, In the Spirit of Crazy Horse, evoked wide discomfort as reviewers praised his eloquence and passion while criticizing the book for sentimentality and perpetuating stereotypes (Roberson, I420-449). Hardcover. In slipcase, marbled boards with gray half cloth, Harrison's one-eyed self portrait blindstamped into cloth on upper board and front panel of slipcase. Spine bumped at head and tail, slipcase has slight sunning.

Sun-fading along top edge of boards, slight bumping at spine. Jacket has damp-stain on bottom rear and minor bumping.

The third novel by the author of "Winter in the Blood" is a history-rich saga of the Blackfeet Indians in the late 1800s, winner of the American Book Award, and the frequent target of book-banning attempts. Near fine in very good jacket. $70. Order here.
