What's New at NBO

July has flown by and I’m not quite sure where it went? At NBO we’re very busy getting ready for our 10th Anniversary Conference in the summer of 2019. There’s a teaser down below listing the fantastic instructors that we chose to inspire your creativity next summer. When I was reading their workshop descriptions I wished that I would have the time to spend learning all of the techniques that will be taught.
The Land of Lincoln Basketweavers Association is our Featured Guild for July. They’re a statewide organization and help spread the word about local weavers in various communities around Illonois. Weaving Times is their quarterly newsletter and they have two large gatherings a year. There’s more about them below. For additional information be sure to visit their website: Lincoln Basketweavers Association
Each month as we feature a guild from around the country I am reminded of our Guilds For Basketmakers page on the NBO website. There are guild listed in almost every state. While this exhaustive list is not complete it is full of resources. If you know of a guild that is not listed please ask them to get in touch with us  - just send us an email and we’ll happily add them to the guild page. Being large or small makes no difference, we want them all. We field a lot of calls and emails from people seeking guilds near where they live.
This is the perfect time to get your work up on our Featured Members page. You need to be a member at the Enhanced level. If your already a member you can always add to your membership level or you can join now for this opportunity to get your work online

I hope you have a wonderful summer!

Land of Lincoln Basketweavers Association

The Land of Lincoln Basketweavers Association is an Illinois statewide organization formed to stimulate interest in the art of basketweaving, to educate the general public on the historic value and heritage relating to basketry and to support and encourage our members to be quality basketweavers. Our goal is to spread the word of basketweaving by gathering together women and men throughout the state interested in sharing, instructing and informing others on basketweaving knowledge and skills.

Each year we sponsor a spring, summer and fall weaving event. Spring Fling is our two-day spring event, and Starved Rock Weaving Day is held in June. Camp Tuck -a- Basket is our three-day weaving event that will take place in Normal, Illinois, from September 7-9, 2018. Camp Tuck instructors this year are Becky Bechtel, Dianne Gleixner, Marilyn Parr, and Barb McNally. Our newsletter Weaving Times is published four times a year and is packed full of basket-weaving news and tips for both seasoned or new weavers alike. Although we are a statewide organization, we encourage people to gather to weave in their local areas. We publish a membership list to identify weavers in your vicinity. Please join us and share your talents, knowledge and experience.  Check out our upcoming events at Land of Lincoln Basketweavers Association.
