Dundarave Festival of Lights
Glowing Dundarave Beach
Dear Friend,

Your tree changes everything; now's the time to sign up.

It sends a powerful message to the thousands of people who visit the Dundarave Festival through the holidays, because of what your tree is and what your tree does.

Your tree is a beautiful beacon of your best hope for our community.  And, at the same time, it makes this hope real by helping us end homelessness in our community.

The Festival's spectacular forest of trees allowed us last season to exceed our fundraising goal for the Lookout Emergency Aid Society's North Shore Shelter by 40%, bringing in over $35,000.  Together, through the past four seasons, we've raised over $105,000 in charitable donations to the Shelter.

The Shelter used this money to double its transitional support staff.  It's allowed us to have an enormous impact on the Shelter's ability to end homelessness, one person at a time.

David Newberry, the Shelter's Community Liaison, has watched this closely.

We've been able to reduce by over 30% the amount of time people remain in our transitional services program, opening more space for people to have the benefit of this crucial service.  By being more effective in helping people move from homelessness back to stable lives, we're finding the Shelter is able to be more responsive at the intake stage.  We receive no funding from federal or provincial governments for transitional support services.  Without the Festival, none of this would be possible.”

Our Mayor, Mike Smith, has been keeping a close eye on this too.

“The Festival's helping reduce homelessness on the North Shore, so it’s all good as far as we’re concerned. I’m also further happy to point out that mayor and council were the first ones to purchase a tree last year, and we’ll be doing so again this year,” Smith said. “We would encourage everybody to register for a tree.”

Click here to claim your Dundarave Festival tree today, and help us reach our goal of 100 trees for this coming season.  One quick email to me is all it will take.  As always, I'd love to hear from you.

Please share this email with everyone you love.  We'll be back in touch shortly with details of the Festival's exciting season of Saturday concerts.

“Homelessness and housing insecurity are very real challenges for West Vancouver, and across the North Shore.  I’m inspired by the way the Dundarave Festival gathers our community to face this reality with compassion, courage and intelligence.  The Festival is a celebration of arts and culture that makes a powerful impact on the lives of the most vulnerable members of our community.”
